At Expeditors, our employees are our greatest asset and the key to providing the best-in-class customer service that our organization is known for throughout the industry.

Job Description

Expeditors is seeking a seasoned, motivated, and well-qualified commercial attorney to step into a Corporate Counsel position supporting the company’s Real Estate and Global Sourcing practice group. This role offers exposure to a dynamic international practice spanning commercial real estate matters, SaaS and technology agreements, vendor and procurement contracts, and transportation deals.

As Corporate Counsel, you will support the global Legal Department in representing Expeditors’ best interests in interactions with landlords, vendors, and service providers. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for advising internal clients on best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and corporate requirements, as well as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements. In addition, you will have the opportunity to support litigation management, contribute to various strategic initiatives owned by the Legal Department and the practice group, and work across legal disciplines and time zones while collaborating directly with senior legal and business stakeholders.

A successful candidate must be able to effectively manage multiple matters with different priorities at the same time. This is a great fit for a practical, business-oriented lawyer with a global mindset and the ability to operate in a lean, high-performing in-house environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle real estate leasing, amendments, estoppels, and construction build-outs.
  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on SaaS, AI, developer, and IT vendor agreements.
  • Lead or support commercial procurement and capital project contracting.
  • Advise on transportation agreements with global air and ocean carriers.
  • Provide clear, business-centric legal guidance to internal clients.
  • Partner cross-functionally with legal, procurement, and operations teams worldwide.
  • Assisting with outside counsel management as part of the Legal Department’s strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • JD and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 7+ years of legal practice, with deep experience in commercial real estate and technology matters.
  • Prior in-house experience preferred; law firm experience welcomed.
  • Excellent judgment, a collaborative working style, and a sense of humor.
  • Industry experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation is a plus.
  • Full-time, in-office attendance required.

Additional Information

  • A successful candidate must pass Expeditors’ pre-employment background check.
  • Expeditors offers excellent benefits.
  • Expeditors is fully committed to the importance of diversity within the legal profession as an Equal Opportunity Employer. We strongly encourage the interest of diverse candidates in the company.

Compensation

We offer a highly competitive total compensation package that is intentionally designed to reward our employees for contributing to the Company’s long-term success.

This position has a base salary of $100,000, complemented by a quarterly bonus based on a percentage of the Company’s operating income. Unlike traditional bonus programs, our incentive compensation is directly tied to the Company’s financial performance, allowing employees to share in our continued growth and success. For a successful candidate meeting performance expectations, the total cash compensation during the first year is targeted at $250,000, comprised of a target bonus of $150,000 (tied to the Company’s operating income) and the base salary of $100,000.

In addition, long-term equity awards may also be available for this position, providing the opportunity to participate in the Company’s long-term value creation.

If you are seeking a role where exceptional performance is rewarded through a meaningful, performance-driven compensation structure with significant upside, we encourage you to apply.
