Job Description

The Corporate Counsel, Lega Operations will help shape the future of healthcare by delivering practical legal counsel in a global, fast-paced environment. As a Counsel at AbbVie, you'll support business integrity and innovation by applying foundational legal knowledge to real-world challenges. This role offers early exposure to high impact work and the opportunity to grow into a strategic legal advisor. We are seeking a business-oriented Counsel to support the Operations function, including Operations Transformation initiatives, manufacturing facility acquisitions, and contract manufacturing arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on compliance, regulatory, and business operations matters  Partner with internal stakeholders to assess legal risks and support ethical, compliant business decisions  Interpret evolving U.S laws and regulations in connection with advisory on practical application  Communicate legal concepts in clear, business-relevant language to cross-functional partners  Collaborate with senior attorneys on projects, contracts, or investigations that impact business strategy.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of services agreements related to manufacturing operations.
  • Support various stages of manufacturing facility transactions, including integration activities such as legal due diligence, coordinating with cross-functional teams on operational readiness, and providing post-close integration support to align acquired facilities with company standards, contracts, and compliance frameworks. 

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school 
  • Active license to practice law in job location 
  • 1+ years of relevant legal experience, with some in-house or healthcare compliance experience preferred. 

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of legal experience, with some in-house or healthcare compliance experience preferred. 
  • Exposure to biopharma, healthcare, or life sciences compliance topics Strong legal writing, research, and communications skills Interest in growing a legal career in a complex, global organization
