Position Overview
Job Description
* Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement.
* Employees working in this job classification will be considered for annual salary increases upon successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This job classification will promote to range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.
Criminal Division
This position performs a variety of criminal case processing duties from case initiation through final disposition. Responsibilities include reviewing and filing charging documents, opening and maintaining cases in the CourtView database, scheduling court hearings, processing warrants, summonses, bail and bond documents, and ensuring accurate case records and distribution of court documents to parties and agencies.
The incumbent coordinates Grand Jury and search warrant case processing, prepares and routes documents for judicial review, processes court orders and case dispositions, and assists with reopening cases when authorized. Additional responsibilities include conducting financial eligibility interviews for court-appointed counsel, providing support to court staff and customers, and updating cases during court hearings by recording judicial actions, scheduling future proceedings, and assessing fines, fees, and other court-ordered requirements.
Traffic Division
The incumbent processes incoming mail, verifies and balances financial transactions, supports court hearing operations, assists with scheduling and notice distribution, and performs case management functions such as default judgment processing and requests to set aside default judgments. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records while working with court systems and confidential information.
The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
