Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Contracts Management- Power Generation based in United States.

The Director, Contracts Management- Power Generation will lead the commercial strategy and contract positioning for high-value EPC agreements supporting islanded power and power generation solutions. The role focuses on complex agreements covering Behind-the-Meter systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems, engineering, construction, equipment, and related operations and maintenance services. You will work closely with executive leadership, Legal, Engineering, development, construction, operations, finance, and supply chain teams to manage commercial risk and support successful project execution. The position requires strong negotiation expertise, financial and analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of complex infrastructure contracts. You will manage multiple strategic agreements in a fast-paced environment while establishing commercial standards, governance practices, and supplier relationships. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity within large-scale data center and critical infrastructure development.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead commercial negotiations across a portfolio of complex EPC, engineering, construction, equipment, supply, and related service agreements.
    • Develop commercial strategies that balance project delivery requirements, cost, schedule, supplier relationships, and contractual risk.
    • Lead the prepositioning and negotiation of contracts supporting Behind-the-Meter, Battery Energy Storage Systems, islanded power solutions, and related infrastructure.
    • Provide executive leadership with commercial recommendations, negotiation strategies, financial assessments, and risk analyses.
    • Partner closely with Legal to develop contract templates, negotiation plans, commercial standards, and processes while maintaining ownership of commercial outcomes.
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Systems, and Operations teams to establish contract management systems, governance procedures, and commercial controls.
    • Manage complex agreements from sourcing and award through drafting, negotiation, execution, administration, change management, claims, and downstream commercial risk.
    • Support multiple high-value agreements simultaneously while maintaining visibility into scope, dependencies, commercial exposure, and project objectives.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners.
    • Use cost analysis, supplier performance data, market intelligence, and other relevant metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and informed commercial decisions.
    • Influence executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams on commercial strategy, contractual risk, supplier decisions, and negotiation outcomes.
    • Anticipate commercial and operational risks and proactively develop mechanisms to protect project delivery, safety, availability, security, and scalability.
    • Travel regularly to company offices and vendor locations as required.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Construction Management, Legal Studies, Contract Law, Business Law, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
      • 10+ years of experience in contracts or commercial management, including extensive negotiation of complex agreements for large-scale capital projects.
      • 7+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, power generation, energy, utilities, industrial infrastructure, or similarly complex environments.
      • 10+ years of commercial or transactional contract management experience spanning sourcing, drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration.
      • Strong expertise in sourcing, contracting, cost management and optimization, supplier management, and strategic sourcing within construction, data center, power, or critical infrastructure environments.
      • Proven experience negotiating complex EPC, construction, engineering, equipment, and supply agreements.
      • Strong understanding of the full contract lifecycle, including contract administration, change management, claims, and downstream commercial risk.
      • Strong financial analysis, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
      • Excellent negotiation, communication, stakeholder management, and executive influence skills.
      • Technological proficiency with procurement systems, contract management tools, data analytics, reporting platforms, and Microsoft Office.
      • Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) capabilities, including developing business requirements and supporting active implementation.
      • Experience negotiating agreements specifically involving islanded power, Behind-the-Meter systems, or Battery Energy Storage Systems is preferred.
      • An advanced degree in business, economics, construction management, legal studies, contract/business law, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
      • Experience working in startup or high-growth environments with a strong execution focus is preferred.
      • Knowledge of supply chain sustainability and social responsibility is a plus.
      • Strong integrity and ethical standards, with a commitment to transparent and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
      • High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate cultural nuances, motivations, and high-pressure negotiations effectively.
      • Strategic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify creative solutions and adapt to unexpected challenges.
      • Strong influence and persuasion skills, with the ability to build consensus and secure agreements while maintaining long-term relationships.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple complex agreements and priorities.
      • Ability to work from Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, Austin, TX, Alexandria, VA, or remotely within the United States on an individual basis.
      • Ability to travel regularly as needed.
      • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
