General Summary:

Our Legal & Audit organization are seeking a Director Product Compliance. This position is a high-level management contributor. This position is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the regulatory team are functioning at their most efficient. This role is widely recognized for expertise and skill in all functions of the regulatory team and is comfortable providing direction on all aspects of our organization. This position must interact with government authorities, senior company management, sales and field personnel, and related legal and technical resources within and outside the company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, sequence & allocate resources toward achievement of company goals, while maintaining regulatory compliance in all areas of team accountabilities.
  • Maintain a high-level view of our organization and accountabilities, and drive change to support a constant re-evaluation of process to effect increased efficiency
  • Manage a technical and professional staff in support of all functions of the regulatory team
  • Partner with senior management and staff in all business areas of the organization to strategically plan and effectuate product and rate designs, development, regulatory filings/negotiations/approvals, ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, Market Conduct exams and complaint processes, project delivery timelines, Non-Standard process and timelines, reporting, and Implementation support
  • Represent company and team at industry meetings
  • Establishes productive and on-going partnerships with business partners
  • Establishes productive and on-going partnerships with state and federal regulatory agency personnel
  • Represent regulatory team in decision-making processes with business partners
  • Successfully manage many competing priorities with ease

Job Specifications

  • BA or equivalent work experience
  • Position requires extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment that governs our business
  • 8 years industry experience
  • 3 years Managerial experience
  • 5 years of relevant multi-line product knowledge
  • Familiarity with systems utilized by regulatory team
  • Strong technological skills
  • Strategic understanding of marketplace
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$89,900.00-$169,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
