Your Role:
We are seeking an experienced Export Trade professional to join our Corporate Trade team in Switzerland. The Manager EMEA Export Controls & Compliance role focuses on ensuring the international trade of goods and software in compliance with applicable government laws and regulations, with an emphasis on export controls and compliance regulations in the EU and across the EMEA region. The role is an integral part of the larger Corporate Trade team responsible for the global grade compliance and strategy program for Aptiv.
In your daily tasks you will:
• Act as the regional subject matter expert and own export controls and sanctions compliance across Aptiv’s EMEA operations.
• Monitor, interpret, and translate evolving export control and sanctions regulations into clear, actionable business guidance.
• Provide export classification to enable compliant export of Aptiv products, software, and technology.
• Own EU and national export licensing, including applications, use of general authorizations, and reporting obligations.
• Ensure full compliance of EMEA activities with applicable export control and sanctions regulations, proactively identifying risks and driving mitigation actions.
• Lead and coordinate export-related audits by customs and regulatory authorities.
• Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of export compliance processes, procedures, and controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability, and compliance (e.g., SAP GTS).
• Design and deliver targeted export controls training to relevant stakeholders.
• Support the Trade Internal Assessment program, including site reviews, corrective action tracking, and validation of remediation efforts.
• Ensure proper maintenance of export control records in line with internal policies and legal requirements.
• Advise and partner with business units, subsidiaries, and functional leadership to enable compliant, risk-informed decision-making.
• Provide functional leadership and guidance to regional and site-level stakeholders, ensuring consistent application of export control requirements.
• Operate effectively in a complex, multi-jurisdictional, high-volume environment, balancing regulatory compliance with business needs.
Your background:
• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Law, Business, Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in export controls within a multinational company or consulting environment
• Proven experience managing export compliance across EU/EMEA jurisdictions in complex, high-volume environments
• Deep knowledge of EU export controls, including Dual-Use Regulation, Common Military List, sanctions regimes, and member state requirements
• Experience with EU General Export Authorizations (GEAs), including registration, usage, and reporting obligations
• Experience with trade compliance systems (SAP GTS) and ERP-integrated environments
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into scalable operational processes
• Strong stakeholder management across legal, engineering, and commercial teams
• Fluent in German and English
• Dynamic global trade compliance professional who will utilise business judgment, prior experience, and creativity to understand the business and market dynamics, and implement effective strategies.
• Ability to obtain internal buy-in to drive strategy development, implement compliance initiatives and dispute resolution.
• Structured and analytical thinker, data-driven with strong technology capability.
• Excellent communication skills, including concise verbal and email communication, clear visuals, and ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders.
• Energetic, self-aware, independent thinker with exceptional leadership skills
