This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Estate Planning Partner – UHNW based in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted strategic advisor to ultra-high-net-worth families with complex, multi-generational wealth.
You will lead sophisticated estate planning engagements, shaping strategies that protect, preserve, and transfer significant family assets.
Working alongside senior wealth advisors and interdisciplinary experts, you will provide high-impact guidance across estate, tax, and succession planning.
The position combines technical expertise, relationship leadership, and the ability to influence long-term client outcomes.
You will oversee complex planning initiatives while contributing to the continued evolution of a premier wealth management platform.
This is an opportunity for an experienced estate planning professional to operate at the highest level of private wealth advisory services.
Accountabilities:
- Lead estate planning relationships alongside senior wealth advisors and serve as a strategic partner for ultra-high-net-worth clients.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of sophisticated families, including clients with significant multi-generational wealth and complex balance sheets.
- Oversee and mentor a team of estate strategists and support professionals to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
- Develop and implement advanced estate plans involving trusts, wealth transfer structures, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documentation.
- Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax strategies while identifying planning opportunities and legislative risks.
- Guide multi-generational wealth conversations, including family governance, heir education, trustee selection, and succession planning.
- Design and advise on complex business structures, including entity planning, succession strategies, buy/sell agreements, and tax considerations.
- Support client acquisition initiatives through prospect meetings, industry participation, and thought leadership contributions.
- Partner with leadership teams to improve service models, technology capabilities, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Provide guidance on trust administration, trust modifications, decanting strategies, beneficiary matters, and estate-related documentation.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school required; LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning strongly preferred.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- 15+ years of estate planning legal experience, primarily supporting clients with significant wealth, including experience with families possessing $100M+ balance sheets.
- Advanced knowledge of federal transfer tax law, trust and estate administration, and sophisticated wealth transfer techniques.
- Proven experience advising on business succession, liquidity events, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, ESOP transactions, and closely held business interests.
- Background in a private wealth department at an AmLaw 100/200 firm, nationally recognized estate planning boutique, family office, or similar high-level advisory environment preferred.
- Ability to explain complex legal and financial concepts clearly to clients, advisors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership, relationship management, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.
- Comfort operating within a regulated financial advisory environment.
- Competitive total cash compensation range of approximately $250,000 – $400,000 USD, including base salary and annual bonus opportunities.
