Financial & Regulatory Reporting Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Financial & Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join Thunes in Barcelona. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong regulatory reporting experience within banking, payments, fintech or another regulated financial services environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely, accurate and well-controlled production of financial, regulatory and safeguarding reporting, while supporting regulatory change, reporting improvements and the continued strengthening of the finance control environment.
What you鈥檒l be doing
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燩repare, review and support the submission of financial, regulatory and statistical returns to relevant regulatory authorities.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燭ake ownership of safeguarding reporting, including reconciliation and monitoring of safeguarded client funds and investigation of breaks, discrepancies and movements.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛nsure safeguarding and regulatory reporting obligations are completed accurately, reconciled appropriately and delivered within required deadlines.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燩erform detailed reconciliations across bank accounts, ledgers, payment flows and reporting systems.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦營nvestigate and explain material movements, variances, exceptions and reporting anomalies.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燤aintain robust evidence, documentation and audit trails supporting regulatory and safeguarding reporting.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燗ct as a subject matter expert on financial, regulatory and safeguarding reporting requirements, providing guidance to Finance and wider business stakeholders.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燤onitor regulatory developments and assess the impact of new or amended reporting requirements on the business.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燬upport regulatory reporting systems, including maintenance, enhancements, data validation, UAT and testing.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦營dentify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, data quality and automation.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燚evelop and maintain reporting procedures, control frameworks and operating documentation.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燬upport internal and external audit requests and provide clear explanations and supporting evidence where required.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燱ork closely with Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, Technology and senior stakeholders.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燙ontribute to a strong culture of financial control, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛xperience in financial and regulatory reporting within banking, payments, fintech or another regulated financial institution.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燩ractical understanding of safeguarding requirements, safeguarded client funds and related reconciliation and reporting processes.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛xperience preparing, reviewing or validating regulatory returns.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燬trong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and reporting governance.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燗bility to analyse large datasets and investigate discrepancies, breaks and unusual movements.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燗dvanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛xperience with regulatory reporting, finance or accounting systems.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛xperience supporting regulatory change, system enhancements, UAT or reporting automation.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燬trong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively to demanding regulatory deadlines.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燛xcellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燗 proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
鈥⑩仩 聽鈦燪ualified Accountant or equivalent professional qualification is desirable but not essential.

This role would suit an experienced regulatory reporting or financial controls professional who can quickly integrate into a fast-moving payments environment and take ownership of critical reporting deliverables.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute across regulatory reporting, safeguarding, financial controls, data quality and process improvement, working collaboratively with teams across the organisation.
