About the Role

We're looking for a rare blend of engineering leader and regulatory expert to head our Korea technology team. You will be the primary bridge between Binance Korea's engineering capabilities and the Korean regulatory landscape. Unlike a traditional Head of Engineering who coordinates with compliance internally, you will represent the company directly in regulatory discussions, translate regulatory mandates into technical roadmaps.

 

Responsibilities

Regulatory Leadership

• Serve as the company's primary technical representative in direct engagements with regulators; own the preparation, response, and follow-through of regulatory inquiries and audits
• Translate regulatory requirements into concrete engineering and compliance roadmaps
• Proactively monitor regulatory developments in Korea and advise senior leadership on technical implications and required system changes
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with regulatory bodies, acting as a credible technical voice that regulators can rely on
Engineering Leadership
• Lead and grow a high-performing, lean engineering team working collaboratively with global engineering and technology teams; mentor talent and hold accountability for delivery and quality
• Drive architectural decisions and design scalable, robust systems with deep technical expertise in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Stay hands-on with architecture, code reviews, and technical problem-solving; balance technical leadership with people management
• Manage delivery commitments, drive incident readiness, and ensure operational excellence
Cross-functional & Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with Business, Legal, and Compliance teams to solve complex regulatory-technical problems and shape product strategy
• Communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts to non-technical executives and external partners

Requirements

• 10+ years of software product engineering experience, preferably in cloud computing, SaaS, fintech, regulated environments, or eCommerce; 3+ years leading engineering teams
• Direct regulatory engagement experience; internal compliance coordination alone does not qualify
• Deep knowledge of local financial regulatory frameworks and reporting standards
• Demonstrated experience working in regulated industries or with compliance frameworks; ability to understand and translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with executives, regulators, non-technical partners, and cross-functional teams
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop high-performing engineers; track record of scaling teams and building strong engineering cultures
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience) 
• Bilingual English/Korean is required to be able to coordinate with overseas partners and stakeholders
