POSITION SUMMARY: World Relief seeks a part-time Immigration Attorney who will provide limited-scope legal services focused exclusively on FOIA matters, refugee interview representation, refugee adjustment interviews, and Know Your Rights education for current clients and community members.

POSITION SUMMARY: World Relief seeks a part-time Immigration Attorney who will provide limited-scope legal services focused exclusively on FOIA matters, refugee interview representation, refugee adjustment interviews, and Know Your Rights education for current clients and community members.
This is a limited-term, part-time position, 24 hours per week, funded through a grant agreement until May 31, 2027, and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Legal Services
- Prepare and submit FOIA applications on behalf of current clients to obtain records relevant to their immigration cases.
- Review and analyze FOIA responses and records for current clients, identifying information relevant to their immigration history and ongoing legal matters.
- Provide legal representation to refugee clients during refugee re-interviews and/or refugee adjustment interviews, as needed.
- Prepare clients for refugee re-interviews and/or refugee adjustment interviews, including reviewing case history, discussing potential questions or issues, and ensuring clients understand the interview process.
- Provide legal guidance and support to clients regarding issues identified through FOIA records and refugee interviews, as appropriate. Know Your Rights
- Develop and conduct Know Your Rights trainings for clients and/or community members regarding their rights when interacting with immigration authorities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief's Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of the Nation document
- Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
- Licensed attorney in good standing with an active state bar membership.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from a wide range of cultural, racial, religious and language backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage a varied and demanding caseload, including excellent time-management, priority-setting, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cross-cultural sensitivity
- Detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivate, organized
- Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
- Occasional travel to Charlotte, NC and Raleigh, NC to USCIS offices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Previous knowledge and understanding of immigration law and systems preferred.
