Position Overview
Job Description

The Connecticut Superior Court hires post-graduate law clerks for a 52-week term. Most clerkship terms begin in August and September. Law clerks perform legal research and writing for Superior Court judges, with assignments at courthouses statewide coordinated through the Legal Research Office in Hartford.
Application cycle: under the Branch's posted annual schedule, students in their final year of law school (and graduates) apply beginning August 1 of the year before the clerkship term, and hiring decisions are finalized no later than the following March. Applications are emailed to the Legal Research Office at SuperiorCourt.Clerkship@jud.ct.gov; interviews begin in the fall.
Salary: the Branch lists the Superior Court clerkship salary for the 2026-2027 term as the biweekly equivalent of an annual salary of $63,436.67, and notes the annual salary may increase following conclusion of the budgetary process. The figure for the 2027-2028 term will be posted by the Branch.
Who this suits: graduating JD students and recent graduates seeking Connecticut judicial experience. A Connecticut Superior Court clerkship is the state's highest-volume entry route into Connecticut litigation and judicial careers.
How to apply: review the official page (link on this listing), prepare a cover letter, resume, certified transcript, writing sample, and letters of recommendation, and email the application to SuperiorCourt.Clerkship@jud.ct.gov once the window for the 2027-2028 term opens.
