Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Commercial Litigator (Federal Practice) based in United States.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced commercial litigator to take ownership of complex business disputes across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
The role centers on substantive litigation, including breach of contract, civil fraud, and other sophisticated commercial matters.
You will independently drive cases from strategy through motion practice, discovery, hearings, and resolution.
The position offers significant autonomy and direct influence over case strategy, client relationships, and outcomes.
You will work closely with clients, co-counsel, and local counsel while maintaining high standards of responsiveness and legal service.
The role is fully remote, with travel as needed for hearings, depositions, and other proceedings.
It is particularly well suited to a seasoned litigator who values hands-on practice, professional independence, and meaningful responsibility.

Accountabilities

    • Independently manage and drive complex commercial litigation matters from initial strategy through resolution.

    • Develop case strategies, assess legal risks, and make sound tactical decisions throughout the litigation lifecycle.

    • Lead federal court matters, including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, hearings, depositions, and related proceedings.

    • Conduct sophisticated legal research and prepare high-quality briefs, motions, correspondence, and other litigation documents.

    • Manage communications and relationships with business clients, ensuring timely, clear, and professional guidance.

    • Coordinate effectively with co-counsel and local counsel, including counsel supporting pro hac vice admissions in various jurisdictions.

    • Take direct responsibility for case outcomes, deadlines, litigation strategy, and overall matter execution.

    • Maintain consistently high standards of responsiveness, professionalism, organization, and client service.

    • Travel as required for hearings, depositions, and other in-person litigation proceedings.

    • Contribute strategically to matters involving complex commercial disputes, with additional opportunities to support general commercial or transactional work.

    • Requirements:

      • Approximately 10+ years of commercial litigation experience with substantial responsibility for complex matters.

      • Strong experience practicing in federal courts, including motion practice, discovery, and case management.

      • Demonstrated ability to independently run litigation matters and make strategic decisions with limited supervision.

      • Excellent legal writing, research, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy skills.

      • Strong understanding of commercial disputes, including breach of contract and civil fraud matters.

      • Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing litigation priorities.

      • High degree of professionalism, responsiveness, reliability, and commitment to client service.

      • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.

      • Comfortable working in a fully remote, self-directed environment with significant autonomy.

      • Experience with general commercial or transactional matters is a plus, but not required.

      • An existing portable book of business is welcome and may be considered in determining overall compensation and role fit.

      • Benefits:

        • Base salary of $200,000.

        • Performance bonus of up to $40,000.

        • Additional compensation flexibility for candidates with a portable book of business.

        • Fully remote work environment.

        • Opportunity to take significant ownership of complex litigation matters and case strategy.

        • Direct influence over client relationships and litigation outcomes.

        • Lean, sophisticated legal platform without the bureaucracy of a large law firm.

        • Substantive commercial litigation practice rather than high-volume, commodity-driven work.

        • Opportunity to work across multiple U.S. jurisdictions with experienced co-counsel and local counsel.

        • Full-time position with meaningful autonomy and senior-level responsibility.
