About the Role
The Lead Counsel LATAM serves as Takeda’s senior legal partner for the Latin America cluster, overseeing legal support across Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia and leading a team of in‑market lawyers who operate in highly varied legal, regulatory, and commercial environments. The role provides clear, business‑aligned legal guidance that enables confident decision‑making across three countries with differing healthcare systems, compliance expectations, and levels of market maturity.
This position is responsible for ensuring consistent legal standards across the region while tailoring advice to local needs, balancing complexity, risk, and business priorities. The Lead Counsel guides and develops local counsel, fosters strong collaboration across countries, and drives cohesive ways of working that strengthen Takeda’s legal capability and regional execution. The role requires the ability to navigate cross‑border issues, anticipate regulatory and policy developments, and support commercial, access, and operational priorities with practical, solutions‑focused advice.
As a key contributor to the Intercontinental legal leadership structure, the Lead Counsel LATAM plays a central role in building a unified legal approach across markets while maintaining deep understanding of local dynamics, ensuring Takeda can operate confidently, compliantly, and effectively across this strategically important region.

Skills:
Higher Educational Degree (Master's).
Advanced professional training in pharmaceutical law from a highly regarded law firm.
Extensive post-qualification legal experience (typically 10+ years) advising on complex legal issues, including access, regulatory, compliance, litigation and corporate matters within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
Extensive experience in working in LATAM is highly desirable.
Experience in managing attorneys and legal professionals.
Proficiency in English language written and oral communication.
