Job Description:

Join the State of Nebraska Team as a Temporary Legal Aide through the SOS Temporary Program!

The SOS Temporary Program is the State of Nebraska’s inhouse staffing service, placing motivated talent into high impact, limited term roles that help keep the State’s agencies, boards, and commissions moving forward.  Every assignment is temporary and provides an opportunity to complete meaningful work while building new skills and connections and exploring career paths within state government.

Under direct supervision, performs paraprofessional legal work researching and providing analysis on a variety of legal subjects for an agency; prepares a variety of legal documents and memorandums; performs related work as assigned.

Job Duties: Conduct research for agency attorneys, reviews, studies, and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and related legal authorities. Analyze law sources, assist with preparing legal files and documents such as briefs, affidavits, motions, or memorandums for agency use. May assist in drafting proposed rules, regulations and statutes. Gather data and legal requirements related to agency responsibilities and summarize as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Current enrollment in, and completion of one year of law school (approved by the American Bar Association).

Other: Regular and Reliable attendance is required. Please supply a copy of your transcripts with the application.
