Job Description
The Role
Reporting to the North America based Legal Director, and working closely with the other members of the team, this role will provide general legal advice and support to the Megaport group of companies (Group) and assist the Group’s daily business activities. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and negotiating master agreements, providing training and support to the global sales team, reviewing commercial contracts, PR announcements, drafting policies and other documentation, supporting legal operations initiatives and supporting the Legal Director and broader legal team on specific projects and tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing

Review and negotiation of all types of agreements, including but not limited to services agreements, procurement and carrier agreements, confidentiality agreements, and more!

Provide general legal advice on a variety of areas to support the Group’s daily business activities, including but not limited to employee related matters and regulatory and legal compliance matters.

Drafting bespoke contracts (e.g. agency / referral agreements, commission agreements etc).

Assist with the resolution of disputes that arise from time to time.

Supporting team legal operations initiatives.

Support special projects as directed by the Legal Directors and Chief Legal Officer.

Assist with the review of advertising and promotional material including, Megaport’s websites, online publications, new service information and campaign materials.

Review new legislation and regulatory changes and communicate potential impact to the business.

Provide advice on regulatory and compliance issues.

Be a strong ambassador for the legal team across the business.
What We Are Looking For
-
3-5 years of post qualification experience in contract review and negotiation of master level agreements and business-related legal assistance.

Qualification to practice in the jurisdiction you’re located in, in good standing.

Experience which includes work in an in-house position preferred.

Experience in the IT/Technology industry and agreements preferred.

Experience in a sales-driven company is preferred.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills with a strong bias for practical and commercial advice - plain English drafting is essential.

Experience in or exposure to the data center industry is highly regarded.

Privacy, information security, and regulatory experience/exposure are highly regarded.

Employment law experience or exposure is good to have, but not necessary.

Ability to work with stakeholders across multiple global teams with a high degree of independence and autonomy, but raises questions proactively.

Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated ability to deliver practical and commercial advice whilst managing risk.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You’ll support internal and external stakeholders around the world, so adaptability of communication approach is key.

Ability to manage competing priorities - different matters, jurisdictions and timezones, set clear expectations and shift to meet deadlines.

A natural relationship builder, with the ability to engage with all kinds of individuals, building trust and respect with ease.

High level of integrity and professional accountability required.
