Legal Engineer – AI-Enabled Legal Delivery
(Senior Associate / Manager)
We are recruiting a Legal Engineer to strengthen our transformation team and help design and deliver AI-enabled legal services. This role is embedded in engagement teams and firm initiatives, working with our lawyers and stakeholders to integrate AI into legal delivery in a way that improves quality, efficiency, and consistency, while meeting the standards of a leading law firm - confidentiality, security, professional judgment, and robust quality control.
The role is suited to a Senior Associate / Manager-level profile combining structured problem-solving, hands-on implementation and strong stakeholder collaboration.
Key responsibilities
Design and implement AI-enabled delivery workflows for legal workstreams (e.g., contract review support, due diligence acceleration, document analysis and summarisation, clause/risk extraction, compliance and investigation triage, knowledge retrieval).
Build and maintain prompting standards and reusable prompt libraries, including playbooks tailored to specific legal use cases and practices.
Establish evaluation and quality frameworks for AI-assisted work (human-in-the-loop review, sampling and testing, accuracy/completeness criteria, escalation paths, traceability and documentation).
Identify and prioritise AI use cases with lawyers and business stakeholders; define the “to-be” workflows or solutions, data inputs, controls, and measurable success criteria.
Support the selection, configuration and adoption of AI and legal tech tools; coordinate with internal functions (IT, knowledge, PMO) and external providers where appropriate.
Contribute to the development of new AI-enabled client offerings, from initial concept and pilot to operationalised, repeatable delivery.
Promote responsible AI use aligned with confidentiality, data protection, security and applicable professional obligations; help embed governance into everyday delivery.
Candidate profile
We welcome candidates from different backgrounds. The successful candidate will combine strong AI/technology capability with a delivery-oriented mindset and the judgment expected in a leading law firm environment.
Must-have
Agentic AI expertise: Strong hands-on capability in agentic AI (e.g., tool use, orchestration, multi-step workflows, guardrails) with the confidence to make sound technical design decisions (model/tool selection, architecture patterns, evaluation approach, and deployment trade-offs).
AI-enabled workflow delivery: Proven experience designing and deploying AI-supported workflows in regulated, high-stakes, or quality-critical environments, with clear attention to controls, traceability, and risk management.
Legal-technical translation: Ablility to translate legal and business objectives into end-to-end solutions - defining the workflow, data inputs, roles and controls, success measures, and operational handover.
Hands-on LLM delivery: Practical experience with LLMs in production or near-production settings, including prompt design and iteration, evaluation/testing methods, workflow integration, and managing limitations (hallucinations, confidentiality, bias, and reliability).
Collaboration and learning: Ability to quickly build legal domain understanding and work closely with lawyers to convert legal requirements into practical, usable delivery solutions.
Stakeholder management: Comfortable operating in a multi-stakeholder environment, driving progress through clear communication, prioritisation, and a pragmatic delivery mindset.
Nice-to-have
Exposure to legal tech and automation/workflow tooling; low-code platforms; scripting; APIs; and basic data handling.
Experience in delivering client-facing service improvements and/or building scalable, repeatable operational offerings.
Experience in legal services, legal operations, compliance, investigations, or similar professional services environments.
Legal qualification or meaningful legal experience.
What we offer
A role at the centre of how legal services are being reshaped by AI - focused on real delivery and adoption, not experimentation in isolation.
Exposure to sophisticated matters and cross-practice projects, with direct impact on client outcomes and firm capabilities.
The opportunity to build scalable assets and services that become part of our long-term operating model.
