Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Partnerships Lead based in the United States.
This is a high-autonomy individual contributor role focused on building and deepening strategic partnerships with leading law firms serving the clean energy and infrastructure sectors. You will own a portfolio of important legal relationships, acting as a trusted partner to attorneys as well as firm business development, marketing, and innovation teams. The role combines relationship management, commercial strategy, co-marketing, market intelligence, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and help connect legal expertise, industry intelligence, and capital-market opportunities. With approximately 25% travel, you will represent the organization at partner meetings, conferences, client events, briefings, and roadshows. This is an opportunity to shape a growing partnerships function while contributing to the financing of clean energy infrastructure.
Accountabilities:
- Own and deepen relationships with a portfolio of leading AmLaw and Chambers-ranked law firms, serving as the primary relationship owner and building durable connections across partners, practice groups, offices, and firm leadership.
- Navigate law firm business development, marketing, and innovation organizations while understanding and appropriately managing conflicts, confidentiality requirements, client dynamics, and other considerations unique to professional services partnerships.
- Design and execute joint engagement and co-marketing programs, including thought leadership, shared content, partner briefings, events, client dinners, conference activations, and other initiatives that create meaningful value for both organizations.
- Collaborate with Market Intelligence and Legal teams to deliver differentiated legal and market intelligence that partners can use with their clients, including CLE-eligible briefings, deal-term standards, tailored reports, and other decision-relevant resources.
- Help deepen collaboration through technology and industry standards by supporting appropriate partner engagement with the platform and participating in working groups focused on standardized transaction documentation.
- Prioritize partnerships that directly support capital markets objectives, clean energy project financing, and clients’ access to capital.
- Maintain strong partner records, relationship health indicators, program insights, and partnership data in collaboration with revenue operations teams.
- Develop and refine partnership playbooks, processes, and repeatable programs so successful approaches can scale across the broader partnerships organization.
- Work cross-functionally with commercial, legal, market intelligence, marketing, and operating teams to represent partner needs internally and ensure coordinated execution.
- Attend partner briefings, industry conferences, client events, and roadshows, with approximately 25% travel expected to strengthen relationships and build in-person connectivity.
- Approximately 6–8 years of relevant professional experience, with a track record of independently owning meaningful workstreams, strategic relationships, or partnership initiatives.
- Genuine legal-industry fluency and the ability to engage credibly with law firm partners and in-house counsel, including an understanding of how transactional attorneys structure deals and advise clients.
- Strong knowledge of professional services environments, particularly how law firm business development, marketing, innovation, client relationships, conflicts, and confidentiality considerations operate.
- Proven relationship-building capabilities with enterprise or top-tier partners, with a history of establishing trusted relationships and becoming a credible, valued presence with senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial instincts and accountability, with the ability to demonstrate how relationships or partnerships have contributed to meaningful business outcomes.
- Builder’s mindset and bias toward action, with the ability to operate independently, develop or improve playbooks, and make progress in a high-growth environment without extensive support structures.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence effectively without direct authority, while representing partner needs internally and reinforcing a collaborative culture.
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder-management, and interpersonal skills, with confidence leading conversations independently with senior legal and business leaders.
- Experience using AI tools for research, synthesis, productivity, or strategic partnership work is highly relevant in this technology-forward environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to quickly develop expertise in clean energy finance, transferable tax credits, tax equity, debt financing, and related market dynamics.
- Relevant backgrounds may include law firm business development, marketing or innovation, legal-industry partnerships or alliances, project finance or tax law, professional services business development, or comparable strategic partnership roles.
- High-growth or startup experience is a plus, as is an interest in developing a long-term career across corporate partnerships, growth strategy, strategic planning, and potentially corporate development or investment-related activities.
- Base compensation generally ranging from the high $100,000s to the $200,000s, plus an annual performance bonus and company-wide bonus opportunity.
- Stock options in a rapidly growing organization.
- Fully remote-first work model for employees based in the United States and Canada, with optional office and coworking opportunities.
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage, including employee medical premiums fully covered across available plans and contributions toward dependent coverage.
- Dental and vision coverage, with employee premiums fully covered and partial dependent coverage.
- 20 days of paid time off per year.
- 10 company holidays annually.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Generous parental leave, including 16 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.
- Regular company-wide offsites held approximately three times per year, with additional opportunities for individual team gatherings.
- High-ownership, fast-growth environment where employees are encouraged to take meaningful responsibility and improve processes quickly.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of financial services, clean energy, technology, AI, legal partnerships, and capital markets.
- Direct exposure to senior leaders, major law firms, clean energy transactions, and strategic initiatives with significant industry impact.
- Collaborative, inclusive culture focused on mutual support, rapid improvement, customer and partner focus, ownership, and diverse perspectives.
