This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Practice Development Director based in Canada.
This role will lead the expansion and growth of a legal technology practice across the United States and Canada.
You will shape market strategy, identify growth opportunities, and build the relationships needed to establish a strong presence across the legal sector.
The position combines industry expertise, business development, strategic partnerships, executive engagement, and thought leadership.
You will work closely with sales, marketing, product, delivery, and global leadership teams to translate market needs into scalable solutions and commercial opportunities.
A key focus will be developing relationships with law firm executives, technology partners, industry associations, and influential stakeholders.
You will also help create qualified pipeline, acquire new clients, strengthen market recognition, and accelerate revenue growth.
This is an entrepreneurial, high-visibility opportunity for a commercially minded leader who can build a market and influence an industry without relying on direct authority.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute the Legal Industry growth strategy across the United States and Canada, aligned with the broader global industry vision.
- Identify priority market segments, growth opportunities, emerging needs, competitive dynamics, and relevant industry trends.
- Provide strategic recommendations to regional and global leadership on market development and long-term practice positioning.
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with Microsoft and other key legal technology partners.
- Identify, establish, and expand partnerships with technology providers, industry advisors, influencers, associations, and referral partners.
- Create joint go-to-market initiatives with strategic partners to accelerate market penetration and business growth.
- Establish and strengthen market presence across the US and Canadian legal sectors.
- Build executive-level relationships with managing partners, legal operations leaders, CFOs, CIOs, and other senior stakeholders within law firms.
- Drive awareness of legal technology capabilities, solutions, and value propositions among target accounts and market influencers.
- Support the development of client reference programs, success stories, and other materials that strengthen market credibility.
- Collaborate with Product, Delivery, Sales, Marketing, and Legal Industry leadership to evolve industry-specific solutions and offerings.
- Translate market insights and client feedback into product development priorities, messaging, go-to-market strategies, and innovation opportunities.
- Help develop repeatable industry solutions, commercial propositions, and differentiated value propositions.
- Represent the organization at legal industry conferences, events, webinars, and professional forums.
- Contribute to industry content, thought leadership, client success stories, and market positioning initiatives.
- Serve as a visible ambassador within the legal community and strengthen industry reputation and credibility.
- Drive pipeline creation, client acquisition, and revenue growth across the Legal Industry practice.
- Support strategic opportunities through executive engagement, business cases, proposals, presentations, commercial strategies, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with regional sales teams, Microsoft, and other partners to expand strategic market opportunities.
- Provide accurate pipeline updates, forecasts, and growth plans to leadership.
- Support commercial negotiations and ensure successful transition of strategic opportunities from sales into delivery.
- Measure success through strategic partnerships, executive relationships, market presence, qualified pipeline, new client acquisition, revenue growth, thought leadership, and overall expansion across the Americas.
- Proven professional experience within the legal industry, legal technology sector, or in roles serving law firms.
- Strong understanding of law firm operations, business models, commercial priorities, and industry trends.
- Demonstrated experience building new markets, developing industry practices, establishing strategic partnerships, or leading go-to-market initiatives.
- Established network, credibility, and relationships within the legal ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and influential industry stakeholders.
- Strong commercial orientation with proven experience driving business growth, pipeline development, client acquisition, and revenue generation.
- Demonstrated success in business development, strategic sales, or revenue growth within the legal industry or legal technology sector.
- Excellent communication, influencing, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
- Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into actionable growth initiatives.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a growth-oriented environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Ability to balance long-term market strategy with hands-on execution and commercial priorities.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States and Canada.
