Life Sciences Associate - Intellectual Property

A top tier law firm has an internationally recognized Antitrust, Litigation and Securities practice and represents clients in complex civil and criminal litigation, corporate investigations. Their litigation practice is diverse geographically (across continents), substantively (covering a broad range of practice areas) and procedurally (we appear in many different types of proceedings with various pretrial, trial and appellate objectives). The firm’s securities practice numbers over 200 lawyers and is recognized as the “‘place to go’ for high-profile matters that carry large potential liabilities” (Chambers USA). The firm regularly represents clients in the full range of investigations and proceedings initiated by the SEC, Department of Justice, FINRA, Congress, state regulators and attorneys general and other government agencies. Their Antitrust practice has approximately 75 lawyers and is ranked among the best litigation firms in the United States by the American Lawyer. They have successfully represented clients in major antitrust litigation throughout the country and have compiled a remarkable record of winning cases through summary disposition, at trial and on appeal. 

We are interested in discussing possible associate and senior associate positions with lawyers who have two to five years of post-JD experience with an advanced Life Sciences degree. A Ph.D. in a field relating to molecular biology, immunology, microbiology or genetics is strongly preferred. Prior litigation or prosecution experience with biologics and/or nucleic acid-based diagnostics is also preferred.  

The Intellectual Property (IP) Department offers a broad platform and includes: post-grant proceedings and interferences and strategic IP advice in the United States and worldwide. The IP Department counsels clients on IP portfolio development, drafts and prosecutes patents, copyrights and trademarks, and conducts IP audits. The transactional side of the IP Department works with the Corporate Practice in our Transactional Department and assesses risks and opportunities associated with IP licensing, technology transfer, sponsored and collaborative research agreements, joint ventures, strategic alliance and similar matters. The IP Department also works with the Litigation/Controversy Department in IP litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels, including international arbitration and ITC proceedings.
