Job Description

Litigation Associate - Product Liability and Mass Torts

Location: New York, NY

Firm: Barnes & Thornburg LLP

The New York, NY office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP seeks a Litigation Associate with 2-5 years of experience to join our Product Liability and Mass Torts Group. The ideal candidate will have a solid background and demonstrated interest in complex litigation, particularly in the areas of product liability and/or toxic torts, with expertise in consumer-facing products, consumer health, pharmaceutical products, and/or medical devices. This position involves handling all phases of litigation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position also provides a unique opportunity to develop hands-on experience managing complex litigation.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in all phases of litigation, including preparation of pleadings; written discovery and document productions; taking and defending depositions; communicating with other counsel and the court; drafting and arguing discovery and dispositive motions; and trial preparation.

  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills, with great attention to detail.

  • Ability to develop and implement effective strategies for clients, particularly in multi-faceted litigation.

  • Exceptional academic credentials.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters and work independently.

  • Ability and experience communicating professionally to internal and external clients, as well as advocacy in a courtroom.

  • Highly motivated, proactive, resourceful, with a strong work ethic.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work well in a team-oriented environment.

  • Admission to the New York Bar required, with experience practicing before courts in the State of New York. Federal court experience preferred.
