Who we’re looking for
The Legal Department for Toyota Financial Services is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Managing Counsel - Financial and Regulatory Services.
Reporting to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, the Managing Counsel will serve as a strategic partner across a broad range of functions, including fleet, vehicle financing, optional products, insurance, and dealer lending. This role will provide legal and compliance guidance to business partners across Toyota Motor Credit Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates, with a focus on monitoring statutory and regulatory changes to ensure timely, complete support for existing operations and new business initiatives. The ideal candidate will provide sound legal advice, assess risk, lead key initiatives, and collaborate across the organization to support business objectives while helping drive compliance and mitigate risk.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Legal and Regulatory Counsel
Deliver timely, accurate, and effective legal advice to business partners.
Monitor and implement legal and regulatory developments in automotive financing, insurance, and voluntary protection products.
Review and assess business practices, proposals, forms, policies, procedures, agreements, and concept papers for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Communicate legal conclusions and recommendations clearly and persuasively across written, verbal, and meeting settings.
Conduct regulatory reviews of complex and strategic transactions, including participation in compliance workstreams and negotiations.
Provide early-stage legal input on the development of new or expanded products, programs, and services to help ensure compliance by design.
Strategic Business Partnership and Enterprise Support
Partner closely with Enterprise Compliance across areas of responsibility.
Support Enterprise Compliance with eGRC and Authoritative Sources.
Represent the Legal Department in cross-functional teams and task forces supporting new business and legal initiatives across fleet, vehicle financing, optional products, insurance, and dealer lending.
Advise on pilots, strategic initiatives, and private label opportunities within the mobility finance space.
Contribute to long-term and scaling strategy for strategic initiatives
Governance, Examinations, and Risk Support
Support regulatory examinations, investigations, and litigation matters as assigned.
Advise on and support corporate governance activities for Toyota Motor Credit Corporation and Toyota Financial Services International Corporation, including board and shareholder meetings, consents, minutes, governance policies, and financial reporting governance matters.
Partner with cross-functional teams to develop governance practices and recommendations that align governance requirements with business objectives.
What you bring
Education: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Admission to any U.S. state bar, in good standing, and able to obtain license to practice law in Texas
Legal experience in a highly regulated environment.
Skills/Hands on Technical proficiency: Microsoft Office and related products
