Job Description and Requirements

Managing Senior Counsel is responsible for providing general legal services to Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union and its subsidiaries, to include litigation management and both regulatory and transactional corporate advice and counsel as needed. This position is direct backup to the General Counsel/Vice President of Legal Services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in protecting the organization's legal interests.聽

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to all internal departments and subsidiaries as needed.

  • As Senior Attorney, assist with management of Legal Services Department operations.

  • Responsible for and proficient at:

    • Banking law;

    • Drafting and negotiating contracts and other legal documents;

    • Corporate law including advice and counsel related to parent and subsidiary companies, corporate formation and dissolution;

    • Managing outside counsel including litigation counsel; and

    • Familiarity with the National Credit Union Administration and laws and regulations generally applicable to federal credit unions.

  • All other duties as assigned (note: essential functions and responsibilities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice).

Requirements:

  • Master鈥檚 Degree in Law

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law in a law firm and/or in-house legal department

  • Minimum of 1 year experience supervising/managing junior attorneys, paralegals, or other legal staff

  • Specific experience in one of the following: in-house experience in a highly regulated industry (banking or credit union preferred); banking and finance experience in a law firm; or experience in a government agency that regulates the banking and financial services industries

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible for reciprocity

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and problem solve without supervision

Preferred:

  • Juris Doctorate
