Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.
This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau.
Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.
What You Will Be Doing:
This paralegal position will be primarily assigned to the Labor and State Affairs (LSA), Public Corporations and Government Services (PCGS), and Opinion, Appeals and Ethics (OAE) paralegal workgroup of the Attorney General’s office. The location of this position may be in Anchorage, Juneau or Fairbanks based on the best applicant. The LSA/PCGS/OAE sections advise and represent approximately 20 different state agencies, boards and commissions.
Membership in this workgroup provides paralegals with the opportunity to develop diverse legal skills as they assist their attorneys with civil litigation. You will provide direct support to attorneys as they prepare for trial. You may be assigned factual, historical, legal, and legislative research. You will draft or prepare legal pleadings and documents.Mission and Values/Culture:
The Civil Division of the Department of Law provides legal counsel to the executive branch in all civil actions. The division defends and prosecutes civil litigation to which the state is a party; handles legal matters for and provides legal advice to the governor, executive branch agencies, and - upon request - the legislative and judicial branches; reviews regulations prepared by executive agencies, drafts legislation for introduction by the governor; and reviews all legislation before it is acted upon by the governor.

- Planning and Evaluating- Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
