Job Description



General Summary:

Under general supervision, the Paralegal assists with collecting unpaid toll amounts by supporting in person and virtual Administrative Hearings, creating dockets, and filing legal documents. Individuals in this role will be responsible for managing litigation deadlines, monitoring payment plans, drafting post-judgment payoff documents, and preparing reports while entering defendant PII into database systems. Additional responsibilities include meeting with toll road users to coordinate payments and clarify balances and handling administrative tasks such as mailing, printing, and record organization while reviewing and refining Standard Operating Procedures.


The Paralegal is expected to possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage a large caseload, and proficiency in legal software and document management systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Hearing Support: Creates administrative hearing dockets, drafts, reviews, and files citations, orders, and evidence exhibits while assisting with in-person and virtual administrative hearings three to four times a week.
  • Litigation Management: Creates litigation dockets and drafts and files approved documents (pleadings, discovery, motions, lien abstracts). Manages litigation deadlines for several hundred active cases, including mediations, hearings, and trials, by tracking and calendaring events. Monitors payment plan agreements, agreed judgments, and post-judgment payment plans for defaults.
  • Collection Support: Supports collections efforts by drafting post-judgment payoff documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements to facilitate the successful resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Case Tracking & Reporting: Prepares periodic reports and enters information, including defendant personally identifiable information (PII), into database systems and spreadsheets to accurately track and manage several hundred active cases.
  • Payment Coordination: Meets with toll road users to coordinate payments and provide clear explanations regarding outstanding balances, ensuring a thorough understanding of the amounts due and available payment options.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Performs administrative tasks, including mailing, printing, record organization, and continuous evaluation and enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures.
