Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Paralegal based in Brazil.

This is an opportunity to support a US criminal defense practice in a fully remote legal operations role.
You’ll play a critical part in keeping cases organized, filings accurate, and court-related activities on schedule.
The role combines legal administration, case coordination, document preparation, and communication with courts and legal professionals.
You’ll work closely with legal teams while serving as a reliable point of coordination for hearings, depositions, and court dates.
Success in this position requires exceptional organization, discretion, and a strong understanding of US legal procedures.
It is well suited to a self-directed professional who thrives under firm deadlines and takes ownership of detail-sensitive work.
The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a US legal environment while working remotely from Brazil.

Accountabilities:

    • Manage background legal preparation, draft basic legal documents, and compile complete and organized case files.
    • Coordinate court dates, hearings, depositions, and court appearances with opposing counsel, judicial officers, court staff, and other relevant parties.
    • Monitor court dockets, filing deadlines, procedural requirements, and case schedules to ensure matters progress on time.
    • Organize, review, and redact legal documents and evidence in preparation for hearings and other proceedings.
    • Maintain accurate case management records, client files, calendars, and related documentation.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal legal teams, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
    • Manage multiple calls, deadlines, and administrative priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Support the legal team with reliable behind-the-scenes coordination throughout the case lifecycle.
    • Requirements:

      • 2+ years of professional Paralegal experience, with experience supporting US law firms required.
      • Previous experience in US criminal law is strongly preferred.
      • Proven experience coordinating court schedules, depositions, hearings, filings, and docket management.
      • Strong understanding of US legal procedures, terminology, court rules, and filing requirements.
      • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with legal professionals and court personnel.
      • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage strict court deadlines and multiple priorities independently.
      • High attention to detail and strong judgment when handling sensitive legal information and confidential case materials.
      • Strong emotional intelligence, professionalism, discretion, and reliability.
      • Experience working with Filevine, Clio, or similar legal case management systems.
      • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and taking ownership of critical legal coordination tasks.
      • Benefits:

        • Fully remote position, allowing you to work from Brazil.
        • Full-time schedule aligned with 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST.
        • Monthly compensation of USD $1,200–$1,600.
        • US federal holidays observed.
        • Opportunity to gain or expand experience supporting a US criminal defense legal practice.
        • Remote work environment focused on skills, experience, and professional contribution.
        • No specific degree requirement where relevant experience and capabilities demonstrate strong fit.
