Privacy Governance Professional (Full-time or part-time)

Job Description

Privacy Governance Professional

We are seeking a Privacy Governance Professional (0,5 - 1 FTE) to join SUSE’s Head of Privacy Office, a team of privacy lawyers and privacy experts within the Cybersecurity function.
In this role, you will not just monitor compliance. You will  actively help design the structural framework that ensures SUSE’s infrastructure is "Private by Design."
You will bridge the gap between high-level legal requirements and low-level system architecture, helping translate privacy obligations into practical governance models, technical standards, and scalable controls. This role is fully remote.

Profile We Are Looking For:
  • Privacy depth: strong knowledge of privacy law, governance, risk, and controls.
  • Technical fluency: ability to engage with architects, engineers, and security teams.
  • AI literacy: ability to understand AI-enabled use cases and identify privacy, governance, and accountability risks.
Business judgment: ability to understand how SUSE operates and design privacy requirements that are practical, scalable, and risk-based.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and continuously improve SUSE’s privacy governance framework, ensuring data protection is baked into the enterprise ecosystem.
  • Manage privacy risks.
  • Develop technical privacy standards and patterns for data minimization, pseudonymization, and encryption at rest/in transit.
  • Maintain SUSE’s PIMS (Privacy Information Management System) with a strong focus on the governance and technical lineage of data.
  • Lead privacy-by-design (PbD) reviews during the architectural design phase cloud services, and internal IT systems.
  • Implement privacy-enhancing technologies and organizational measures that mitigate privacy risks at the structural level.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity architects to align the "security of processing" with "privacy-by-default" requirements.
  • Review complex vendor contracts and architecture from a legal and technical due diligence perspective.
  • Stay informed about "code is law" concepts and evolving privacy-tech trends, translating them into governance requirements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law (preferably in EU law) or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in privacy or compliance.
  • Deep understanding of GDPR and related privacy laws.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2.
  • English proficiency (B2/C1 or higher)
  • Deep understanding of privacy by design and by default.
  • Knowledge of the “code is law” concept.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF, or Zachman) and how to apply them to privacy.
  • Experience supporting AI governance, model risk assessments, or responsible AI review processes.
  • Orientation in zero trust architecture and its implications for data privacy and access control.
  • Orientation in the audit process.
  • Ability to review technical documentation, and infrastructure diagrams for privacy risks.
  • Certifications like CIPT (Certified Information Privacy Technologist) or CDPSE (Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer) are an advantage.
  • Required overlap: At least 3.5 hours daily between 9:00 and 17:00 Prague time, regardless of your home time zone.

This position is subject to a background check(s), including criminal, credit, and/or employment references. The candidate is required to complete the background check(s) once an offer has been accepted. This will be conducted by SUSE’s external provider, where legally permitted.
