Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel based in Ireland.

Join a lean, high-impact legal team supporting the commercial growth of a fast-moving AI technology business. In this role, you will lead complex enterprise transactions, partnerships, and strategic commercial agreements across international markets. You’ll work closely with sales, business development, leadership, and cross-functional teams to help accelerate growth while managing legal and commercial risk. The role combines hands-on deal-making with the opportunity to build scalable legal processes and frameworks from the ground up. You’ll advise on privacy, intellectual property, data security, AI-related legal matters, and cross-border data transfers. Working across the UK, EU, and APAC, you’ll have a meaningful role in shaping legal strategy in an evolving AI landscape.

Accountabilities

    • Structure, negotiate, and close enterprise sales, partnership, vendor, services, data licensing, and marketing agreements.
    • Act as a trusted legal partner to sales and business development teams, providing practical guidance that enables faster and smarter deal execution.
    • Bring strong customer and commercial awareness to negotiations, balancing business objectives with appropriate legal protections.
    • Design and implement scalable legal processes, including standardized deal terms, templates, playbooks, and streamlined contracting workflows.
    • Provide practical advice on privacy, intellectual property, data security, data licensing, and emerging AI-related legal issues.
    • Advise on cross-border commercial and regulatory matters across the UK, EU, and APAC.
    • Structure appropriate international data transfer mechanisms, including SCCs, adequacy decisions, and BCRs, in connection with voice data processing.
    • Monitor developments in AI regulation and technology law, translating emerging requirements into clear, actionable guidance for internal teams.
    • Support a broad range of legal matters associated with a rapidly scaling technology business.
    • Help establish foundational legal practices and infrastructure that can scale alongside the organization’s international growth.
    • Requirements:

      • JD, LLM, or equivalent law degree or professional qualification from an accredited institution.
      • 5–12+ years of legal practice experience, gained in-house, at a law firm, or across both environments.
      • Strong experience handling international commercial transactions, particularly enterprise agreements, partnerships, and strategic business relationships across UK/EU and APAC markets.
      • Solid knowledge of intellectual property, privacy, data security, and data licensing, with demonstrated depth in several of these areas and willingness to develop expertise in others.
      • Practical experience with data protection frameworks and cross-border data transfer mechanisms relevant to international operations.
      • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to navigate complex or ambiguous legal issues while providing clear, actionable advice.
      • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce precise, straightforward, and persuasive legal documentation and guidance.
      • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and business partnering skills.
      • A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to minimize unnecessary friction while protecting business interests.
      • A builder mindset, with enthusiasm for creating processes, systems, and legal infrastructure from the ground up.
      • Comfort working in a fast-changing, AI-first environment and adapting quickly as priorities and technology evolve.
      • Experience supporting high-growth startups and building legal infrastructure that enables efficient sales growth is highly valued.
      • Hands-on experience with commercial and legal matters in the AI sector is a strong advantage.
      • Experience supporting a U.S.-headquartered company expanding into the UK, EU, and/or APAC is a plus.
      • Benefits:

        • Opportunity to join a lean, high-impact legal function with significant ownership and visibility.
        • Exposure to complex international commercial matters across the UK, EU, APAC, and other global markets.
        • Direct involvement in shaping legal strategy and commercial frameworks within the rapidly evolving AI sector.
        • High degree of autonomy and the opportunity to build scalable legal processes and foundational practices.
        • Close collaboration with experienced leadership and high-performing cross-functional teams.
        • A dynamic, AI-first working environment that encourages experimentation, continuous learning, and the adoption of advanced AI tools.
        • Opportunity to influence how legal operations evolve within a rapidly scaling technology business.
        • International scope, with exposure to commercial expansion across multiple strategic markets.
        • A culture that values practical problem-solving, professional judgment, idealism, and a healthy sense of humor.
