Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Legal (GTS India) will support Walmart Global Tech Services by providing strategic legal advisory and end-to-end contracting support across technology, procurement, and business functions.

This role will partner closely with global stakeholders to enable business priorities while ensuring robust legal governance, proactive risk mitigation, and strict adherence to ethics, compliance, and regulatory standards.

The role will also drive legal operations excellence, standardisation, and scalable processes to support a high-volume, global contracting environment, while reinforcing a strong culture of integrity and ethical decision-making across all engagements.

About the Team

The GTS Legal team supports enterprise technology, procurement, and digital transformation initiatives globally. The team plays a critical role in enabling secure, compliant, and scalable business operations by managing legal risks, strengthening governance frameworks, and upholding the highest standards of ethics and compliance while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across markets.

What You’ll Do

1. Legal Advisory & Business Partnership

  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to GTS stakeholders across technology, sourcing, and business teams

  • Provide guidance on legal, regulatory, risk, and ethics & compliance considerations related to technology and commercial transactions

  • Interpret legal frameworks and deliver pragmatic, business-aligned solutions while ensuring alignment with organisational values and ethical standards

2. Technology & Commercial Contracting

  • Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex technology and commercial contracts (SaaS, cloud, licensing, NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, vendor agreements)

  • Ensure all contracts adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements, including anti-corruption and fair business practices

  • Support high-value, high-risk contracting engagements with global stakeholders

  • Standardise contracting processes through playbooks, templates, and clause libraries, embedding compliance and ethical safeguards

3. Risk, Compliance, Ethics & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across global technology operations

  • Ensure adherence to data privacy, cybersecurity, anti-corruption laws, and global compliance frameworks

  • Partner closely with Ethics & Compliance, Internal Audit, and Investigations teams on governance reviews, policy enforcement, and issue resolution

  • Champion a culture of integrity and ethical conduct, proactively advising stakeholders on risk avoidance and responsible decision-making

  • Support internal investigations, whistleblower matters, and compliance reviews as required

4. Legal Operations & Transformation

  • Drive legal ops maturity through adoption of CLM tools, automation, and streamlined workflows

  • Embed compliance checkpoints, audit trails, and ethical controls within contracting and legal processes

  • Build scalable frameworks to improve turnaround time, efficiency, and service quality

  • Develop dashboards and reporting for contract risk, cycle time, and compliance and ethics metrics

5. Stakeholder & Global Collaboration

  • Collaborate with global legal teams, business leaders, sourcing/procurement, and external counsel

  • Partner with global Ethics & Compliance teams to ensure consistent application of standards across geographies

  • Manage cross-border legal matters and ensure alignment with global regulatory and ethical standards

  • Lead and contribute to legal and compliance transformation initiatives within GTS

What You’ll Bring

  • 12–15+ years of experience in legal, with strong focus on technology and commercial contracting

  • Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex technology agreements (SaaS, cloud, IT services, licensing)

  • Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks including ethics, compliance, data privacy, and anti-corruption laws

  • Demonstrated experience working closely with compliance, audit, and risk teams

  • Experience working in global capability centres / shared services / multinational environments

  • Exposure to legal operations, CLM platforms, and process transformation initiatives

  • Strong stakeholder management with ability to influence senior business leaders

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills with a high degree of integrity and ethical judgement

Preferred Qualifications

  • LLB / LLM from a recognised institution

  • Experience in technology, retail, e-commerce, or digital transformation ecosystems

  • Familiarity with GDPR, IT Act, cross-border data transfer regulations

  • Prior experience in high-volume contracting COEs

  • Exposure to ethics & compliance programmes, investigations, or governance frameworks
