Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of commercial contracts and other legally binding documents. This also includes development of templates/standard documents or adapting Visa U.S. and CEMEA Hub documents to local requirements as the case may be;
  • Provide counseling and advice to Business teams regarding deal structures, contracts interpretations and common approaches;
  • Advise on arrangements with partners for product/solution development initiatives and other arrangements including drafting and negotiating relevant agreements;
  • Advise teams in Visa CEMEA, primarily in NALP subregion about applicable legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Where required, coordinate and supervise outside counsels for timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and excellence of service and work product;
  • Support Visa subsidiaries within the region with respect to corporate and regulatory filings; and advising on requirements for new entities or changes to existing entities;
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on impact thereof on the business; 
  • Providing legal advice to local HR teams on policy issues and employee relations;
  • Leverage legal technology and AI tools responsibly to enhance efficiency, contract management, knowledge sharing, and legal risk assessment, in line with internal policies and best practices;
  • Some travel may be required; and
  • Role to be located in Visa’s office in Cairo, Egypt. 
     

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission enabling in-house practice in Egypt
  • Minimum of 6+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably with a leading international law firm and/or multinational organization
  • Strong commercial and transactional experience, with a proven track record of drafting and negotiating a broad range of complex agreements
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives
  • Experience working cross-functionally and leading or supporting projects across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required; French is an advantage
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the banking, fintech, payments, or technology sectors is advantageous but not essential
  • Familiarity with working in highly matrixed, multinational environments is preferred
  • Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize legal and business considerations into clear recommendations
  • Global mindset with the flexibility to operate across different jurisdictions, cultures, and business environments
  • Strong AI literacy and digital fluency, including familiarity with generative AI tools and an understanding of associated legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations, with the ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency and innovation while managing legal risk.
