The Staff Attorney will be responsible for assisting the Judge by conducting a variety of legal research, analysis, and document preparation related to cases, statues, records, and related information.
Essential Duties
- Performing legal research
- Making recommendations to Judge regarding dispositions of motions
- Drafting, editing and proofreading legal correspondence
- Assisting with case conferences, motions hearings, and trials
- Responding to inquiries from law enforcement personnel, county employees, elected officials, the general public, or other interested parties
- Maintaining the Rules of Professional Conduct
- Completing other relevant duties as directed by the Judge
Public Speaking Duties
- Speaking duties are at the discretion of the judge

- Must submit and attach a resume
- Must submit a writing sample
Grade
- The grade for this position is 105. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate AND
- Five years of experience as an attorney
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Member in good standing with the Georgia Bar admitted to practice in the Superior Courts of Georgia, The Court of Appeals for the State of Georgia and the Georgia Supreme Court and other courts, as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Civil background experience
- Criminal background experience with emphasis on DUI law
- Judicial staff attorney experience
