Role Description
The Associate will support end-to-end tax compliance activities relating to GST, TDS and Tax Audits for the Bank and its subsidiaries. The role requires ensuring timely and accurate compliance with applicable tax regulations, maintaining process controls, supporting audits and assessments, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage tax-related obligations effectively.

Your key responsibilities
1.GST Compliance
Review and compute Input Tax Credit (ITC) eligibility and Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) liabilities for vendor payments processed through Accounts Payable.
Support GST accounting activities, including reconciliation of tax-related General Ledger accounts and preparation of adjustment entries.
Perform year-end closing activities and prepare tax-related MIS reports.
Provide data, reconciliations, supporting documents, and justifications for GST audits, tax notices, departmental inquiries, and assessments.
Monitor changes in GST laws, notifications, circulars, and amendments and evaluate their impact on the organization.
Assist in implementation of tax law changes, system enhancements, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and issue resolution.
Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation and risk mitigation initiatives.
Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
Coordinate with Group Tax, Finance, Operations, Accounts Payable, and auditors on GST-related matters.
2. TDS Compliance
Prepare monthly TDS reconciliations and support accounting adjustments, provisions, and reversals.
Ensure timely deposit of TDS with government authorities and monitor outstanding demands.
Maintain records and trackers for Lower Deduction Certificates (LDCs), Tax Residency Certificates (TRCs), and other supporting documents.
Review and support filing of quarterly TDS returns.
Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to obtain documentation required for cases involving short deduction or non-deduction of TDS.
Determine interest liabilities arising from delayed or short deduction of TDS.
Maintain documentation related to TDS challans, assessments, and tax authority communications.
Respond to TDS-related queries from Tax Department, vendors, Accounts Payable teams, requestors, and internal stakeholders.
Assist Group Tax during TDS audits, assessments, and departmental reviews.
3. Corporate Tax Compliance
Support retrieval, consolidation, and validation of documents required for Corporate Tax assessments.
Compile and present tax-related information and documentation in prescribed formats for review by Finance and Group Tax teams.
Assist in responding to corporate tax notices and information requests from tax authorities.
4. Tax Audit Compliance
Preparation of Tax Audit reports and related reconciliations.
Reconcile Profit & Loss accounts with TDS returns and support preparation of explanations for variances.
Coordinate with auditors, Finance, and Group Tax teams to address audit queries and information requests.
5. Stakeholder Management & Process Governance
Work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, Accounts Payable, Group Tax, Auditors, Vendors, and Requestors.
Ensure timely communication and resolution of tax-related operational issues.
Maintain strong process controls and support risk management initiatives.
Contribute to continuous process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency projects.
Undertake additional tax compliance and regulatory activities as required due to changes in tax laws, business requirements, or organizational priorities.
Your skills and experience
Qualifications & Experience
Semi-Qualified CA / MBA Finance / Commerce Graduate.
Relevant experience in GST, TDS, Tax Compliance, or Finance Operations.
Knowledge of Indian Direct and Indirect Tax regulations.
Experience with SAP ECC/S4HANA and Microsoft Excel preferred.
Familiarity with tax reconciliations, audits, and regulatory reporting.
