DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Manager, Legal and Compliance Applications. 

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. 

Job Overview 

This role will lead the strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement of legal and compliance technology solutions including contract lifecycle management and eDiscovery capabilities. This role plays a critical part in enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient legal processes across the enterprise through technology. You will work closely with Legal, IT, Compliance, and business stakeholders to modernize platforms, optimize workflows, and deliver technology solutions that reduce risk and drive operational excellence while achieving Day 1 and TSA exit separation objectives. Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of legal and compliance applications supporting contracting, spend and matter management, intellectual property, eDiscovery, capabilities. 

  • Oversee implementation, configuration, and lifecycle management of legal technology platforms to meet business and regulatory requirements including supporting Day 1 separation and TSA exit objectives. 

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technology solutions. 

  • Evaluate, select, and implement AI solutions in a responsible manner in a highly regulated environment with sensitive and confidential data.  

  • Establish and optimize processes for contract lifecycle management, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and archiving.  

  • Ensure systems and processes support compliance with legal, regulatory, and data privacy requirements.  

  • Drive automation, reporting, dashboards, and analytics to improve transparency, efficiency, and decision-making.  

  • Manage vendor relationships and external partners, including performance, contracts, and service delivery.  

  • Lead and develop a team, providing coaching, performance management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.  

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to legal processes, contracts, and data handling.  

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align legal technology initiatives with overall enterprise IT strategy and business priorities. 

 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field 

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, or relevant graduate degree) preferred 

Experience and Skills: 

Required: 

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in IT, legal technology, or enterprise applications leadership.  

  • Experience planning, implementing and supporting legal and compliance applications, integrations, and data solutions, particularly in the domains of contract lifecycle management (CLM), eDiscovery,  spend and matter management, and intellectual property. 

  • Experience driving digital transformation initiatives within legal or compliance functions 

  • Strong understanding of legal processes, contract management, and regulatory/compliance requirements  

  • Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and delivering solutions in a matrixed environment 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders  

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with leading legal and compliance platforms or similar (e.x. Litify, Exterro, Imanage, etc.) 

  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks and contract negotiation workflows  

  • Experience in medical devices and/or pharmaceuticals industry and solutions such as Physician Sunshine Act (HCP).  

  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and information lifecycle management 

  • Certifications related to legal operations, project management, or IT service management (e.g., PMP, ITIL) 

  • Experience working in global organizations with distributed teams 

Other: 

  • Language requirement: English (professional proficiency required) 

  • Travel: Up to 10–20% (primarily domestic with occasional international) 

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications preferred (not required)

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

183,500.00 USD anual

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
