Our Brands, Trade Marks & Designs team sits within Simmons & Simmons' international Intellectual Property practice and advises some of the world's most recognisable brands across a broad range of sectors, including technology, fintech, financial services, media, entertainment, life sciences, consumer products and fashion. The team provides a fully integrated service covering trade mark portfolio management, brand strategy, prosecution, enforcement and dispute resolution, acting on UK, EU and international matters for leading global businesses.
As one of the few international firms able to offer a true end-to-end brands service, we support clients throughout the lifecycle of their intellectual property rights, from brand creation and clearance through to protection, commercialisation and enforcement. Working closely with colleagues across our wider international IP network, the team is trusted to manage valuable global portfolios and advise on complex, multi-jurisdictional trade mark issues.
Role
We are seeking a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney to join our Brands, Trade Marks & Designs team in either Bristol or London.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded international practice and work on a broad mix of UK, EU and international trade mark matters for high-profile clients.
The role will involve advising on brand clearance and protection strategies, trade mark prosecution and portfolio management, as well as contentious matters including opposition, invalidity and revocation proceedings, enforcement actions and online brand protection programmes.
The successful candidate will work closely with partners and colleagues across the wider IP practice, supporting clients across a diverse range of industries while delivering commercially focused, pragmatic advice. The role offers significant client exposure, responsibility and the opportunity to develop within a collaborative and growing international team.
Person Specification
- Chartered Trade Mark Attorney with between 1–6 years' PQE.
- Proven experience advising on UK and EU trade mark matters.
- Experience gained within private practice, either in a law firm or trade mark attorney firm.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and client portfolios effectively.
- Strong client focus and a commercial, pragmatic approach to delivering advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
- Capable of building strong professional relationships and developing networks both internally and externally.
- Interest in business development and contributing to the continued growth of a leading international brands practice.
