Mozambique is a Portuguese-speaking (Lusophone) civil-law market centered on the capital Maputo, with growing legal demand tied to mining, gas (notably LNG in Cabo Delgado), banking, and infrastructure projects. Lawyers (advogados) work in private firms, in-house at banks/insurers/energy companies, the public sector (Procuradoria/Ministry of Justice), and donor and rule-of-law programs. Complete a law degree (licenciatura em Direito) from a recognized Mozambican (or recognized foreign) institution, register with the OAM as a trainee lawyer (advogado estagiario), and complete the supervised professional traineeship (estagio) under the OAM's Professional Internship and National Access Examination Regulation (REPENA). You then sit the Exame Nacional de Acesso ao Exercicio da Advocacia administered through the OAM's evaluation commission; on passing you are inscribed as a full advogado.

To become a lawyer (advogado) in Mozambique, first earn a law degree (licenciatura em Direito) from a recognized institution. You then register with the Ordem dos Advogados de Mocambique (OAM) as a trainee lawyer (advogado estagiario) and complete the supervised traineeship (estagio). After the traineeship you must pass the Exame Nacional de Acesso ao Exercicio da Advocacia, the OAM's national bar access examination covering Mozambican law and professional rules. Once you pass and are inscribed by the OAM, you can practise as a full advogado.
