Namibia is an English-language Roman-Dutch/common-law market centered on the capital Windhoek, with a fused legal profession of legal practitioners. Lawyers work in private firms, the Office of the Attorney-General/Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor-General and judiciary, banks, insurers and mining companies (compliance and corporate counsel), and donor/NGO programs. Practical training is delivered through a dedicated postgraduate centre before admission.
Earn an LLB from the University of Namibia or an equivalent recognized law degree, then complete the one-year postgraduate practical-training course at the Justice Training Centre (UNAM, Windhoek), including a minimum nine-month attachment to a practising legal practitioner. You must pass the Legal Practitioners' Qualifying Examination and obtain the Board for Legal Education's certificates, after which you apply to the High Court of Namibia for admission as a legal practitioner.
