Seychelles is a small mixed civil-and-common-law jurisdiction whose legal market is concentrated in the capital, Victoria, on Mahe. Lawyers work in a compact private bar, the Attorney-General's Chambers and Department of Legal Affairs, the courts, plus a significant offshore financial-services and corporate sector (international business companies, funds and trusts). After pupillage they apply by motion to be admitted to the Bar by the Supreme Court and obtain a Legal Practitioners' licence from the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
