To become a lawyer in Thailand, first earn a bachelor's (or associate) degree in law recognised by the Lawyers Council of Thailand. To obtain a lawyer's licence, pass the Lawyers Council's theoretical examination, complete roughly six months of practical training/internship under a qualified lawyer, and pass an oral exam together with a professional ethics and etiquette session. The Lawyers Council of Thailand then issues your licence to practise. Separately, you may take the Thai Bar Association's examination to earn the barrister-at-law title and Thai Bar Association membership; note that practising lawyers are generally required to be Thai nationals.
Lawyers Council of Thailand (under the Royal Patronage) licenses and regulates practising lawyers and maintains the lawyer roll; the Thai Bar Association is the separate body for the barrister-at-law qualification.
