How LegalAlphabet Protects Job Seekers From Scams

Employers can never charge you to apply, every listing is free to read, and you can report anything suspicious in one click. Here is how we keep your legal job search safe.

On this page

Law students and early-career lawyers are prime targets for job scams. Here is exactly what we do to keep your search safe, and how to spot a scam anywhere, on our site or off it.

The one rule we print everywhere

A genuine employer will never ask you to pay to apply, or for your bank or ID details before an offer. You will see that line on every job page, every internship page, and on the receipt for every application you send. We repeat it on purpose, because it is the single fact that stops most scams.

Applying is never a fee to an employer

The only thing you can pay for on LegalAlphabet is our own Pro membership (applying through us, unlimited expert CV review, and application tracking). That is a LegalAlphabet service, never a fee owed to an employer. If anyone claiming to be an employer asks you for money, that is not us and it is not legitimate.

Every listing is free to read

There is no paywall on a job description. You can read the full details of any role before you decide anything, so you are never pressured to "unlock" or pay to find out what a job actually is.

See something off? Report it in one click

Every listing has a report option. If a posting looks fake, asks for money, or feels wrong, report it and our team reviews it. You are not only protected by us, you help protect the next person.

We keep the board genuinely legal

We actively filter out non-legal spam and low-quality reposts, so what you are browsing is real legal work, not a dumping ground.

Red flags to watch for anywhere

  • Asks you to pay a fee to apply, train, or "secure" a role.
  • Wants bank details, ID documents, or payment before any offer.
  • Pushes you onto WhatsApp or personal email immediately.
  • Pressures you to act "right now."
  • Offers pay that is far too high for the work.
  • Uses a free email address instead of a company domain.

If you ever see any of these, stop, and email contact@legalalphabet.com. We would rather check a real job for you than have you fall for a fake one. You can browse genuine legal jobs and internships here.
