To become an advocate in Cyprus, first obtain a recognised university law degree. You then register as a trainee lawyer and complete a pupillage of 12 months at a Cyprus law office (supervised by a senior advocate) or at the Attorney General's office, reducible to a minimum of six months only in exceptional cases. After the training period, you sit and pass the bar examinations organised by the Legal Council of Cyprus, covering Cyprus law, procedure, evidence, advocates' law and other subjects. On passing, you register with the Cyprus Bar Association and may practise as an advocate.
