To become a lawyer in Egypt you first complete a law degree at an Egyptian faculty of law (or obtain a recognised equivalent foreign degree). You must hold Egyptian nationality, register with the Egyptian Bar Association (Naqabat al-Muhamin), pass a fitness check, and pay the required fees. You then undertake a supervised practical training period as a trainee lawyer, pleading a minimum number of cases (conventionally around 25). Admission is tiered by court level, and after the training period you progress toward full rights of audience before the higher and Court of Cassation jurisdictions. Bar Association membership is mandatory to practise.
