To become an advocate (advokat) in Indonesia you first earn a Bachelor of Law degree (Sarjana Hukum). You then complete the mandatory PKPA advocacy-profession training and pass the Advocate Professional Examination (Ujian Profesi Advokat), administered by PERADI under the Advocates Law (Law No. 18 of 2003). After that you complete a supervised apprenticeship (magang) at a law firm, are sworn in before a High Court (Pengadilan Tinggi), and receive your advocate licence card. PERADI is the principal officially recognized advocates' body, though in practice the single-bar model is disputed and several advocate organizations operate, so check which organization's route applies.
