PURPOSE STATEMENT
This position will provide technical and analytical support for customs and trade compliance matters at manufacturing location, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and trade laws.
Key responsibilities include supporting the site’s daily import/export transactions, coordination of activities with the customs broker, communicate, as necessary, with in country Customs Authorities, and other relevant Government Agencies, provide general/tactical trade guidance to local AbbVie business personnel, and assist on audits related to AbbVie’s trade activity.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in ensuring that all import/export transactions are in compliance with in-country Customs Law.
• Communicate directly with site’s customs brokers and forwarders to resolve day-to-day issues that result in border delays.
• Interface with AbbVie affiliates and suppliers on trade related matters. Provide guidance to local AbbVie business on matters concerning import & export transactional requirements and applicable documentation (tariff classification, customs valuation and/or country of origin determination).
• Support activities related to Customs request for information and post entry review of documentation.
• Support the import permit processing through Customs Systems, such as TICA and VUCE.
• Support the business on import and export compliance matters, regulatory and legislative changes.
• Assist in the development of solutions impacting trade and provide knowledge sharing to improve operational performance and ensure compliance with importing/exporting regulations.
• Support the updating and oversight of trade data (i.e. tariff code, country of origin) and work with the AbbVie GTC leadership to monitor the system in which they are maintained to support strategic projects focused on enhancing our capabilities by leveraging preferential duty management programs.
• Assist in the capturing and analyzing of metrics associated with trade operations for reporting up to the site and the Global Trade Compliance leadership.
• Assist in the execution of the self-audit program to ensure continued compliance with customs law and internal policies.
• All other functions inherent to the position and those assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
• Technician degree in international trade, supply chain, logistics or in a related field.
• Proficient in English B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
• University degree in international trade, supply chain, logistics or in a related field (Desirable).

EXPERIENCE
• At least 2 years of experience working in trade compliance, broker’s agency, multinational company or consulting firm.
