Accountabilities
- Draft and review a broad range of commercial property and leasing documents, including heads of agreement, leases, agreements for lease, licences, subleases, renewals, surrenders, and lease assignments.
- Conduct due diligence reviews of leases for M&A transactions and analyse lease portfolios for assignment and change-of-control provisions in connection with corporate restructures.
- Support clients through complex commercial lease negotiations, providing practical and commercially focused legal guidance.

- Manage client leasing portfolios and provide strategic advice aligned with clients’ commercial objectives and broader business needs.
- Monitor legislative developments and market practice to provide proactive, up-to-date guidance.
- Collaborate with lawyers across other disciplines on disputes, acquisitions, disposals, and transactions involving leasing considerations.
- Act as a key point of contact for sophisticated clients, building trusted relationships through clear, responsive, and commercially relevant communication.
- Take ownership of matters from start to finish while managing competing priorities across a high-volume portfolio.
- Support the development of junior lawyers through supervision, mentoring, and knowledge sharing, with opportunities to take on greater people-management responsibilities over time.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial property and leasing gained within a recognised law firm or in-house legal team.
- An unrestricted Australian practising certificate is preferred.
- Strong technical expertise across commercial property, leasing, and related transactional matters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with sophisticated corporate and enterprise clients.
- Strong commercial judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal advice.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership while contributing effectively within a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to quickly identify the issues that matter most to a client’s business and tailor advice accordingly.
- Dependable, accountable, and committed to following matters through to completion.
- Interest in supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and supporting their professional development.
- Comfortable working with technology-enabled legal processes and adapting to an innovative, rapidly evolving environment.
- Applicants based anywhere in Australia are welcome, with remote work options available; Sydney-based candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Flexible working arrangements, including the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in Australia.
- Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills, Sydney, located close to Central Station.
- Additional paid “LV Leave” days, alongside birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
- Annual budget dedicated to external learning and professional development.
- Regular team socials, drinks, and team lunches.
- Access to a fast-paced, technology-enabled legal environment with significant opportunities for career progression.
- Accelerated growth opportunities for high-performing lawyers.
- Opportunity to work directly with sophisticated corporate and enterprise clients and gain extensive exposure to complex, high-volume legal matters.
