The Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) is one of the largest probation departments in the United States, supervising more than 70,000 individuals and employing over 600 staff members across 6 locations. We provide a wide range of services including community supervision, outpatient counseling, cognitive-behavioral programming, and residential treatment, designed to strengthen our clientsโ abilities and support their long-term success. With a focus on utilizing evidence-based practices, we aim to improve outcomes and reduce recidivism for all clients under supervision.ย
Position Overview:
The Community Supervision Officer Assistant is often the first point of contact for individuals navigating through community supervisionโoffering guidance, resolving concerns, and helping connect them to the right resources. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment and takes pride in being a reliable, compassionate presence.ย
In addition, this position supports the operations of the Department by assisting the Community Supervision Officers with duties related to individuals placed under community supervision. This position provides guidance and support to clients while ensuring compliance with court orders and rehabilitation programs often requiring visits to their homes, depending on assignment.ย
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet clients cordially and assist with check-in procedures and general inquiries, including home visits (if applicable)
Operate internal computer systems to manage client intake, scheduling and review as needed.
Address routine client concerns when assigned officers are unavailable, including coordinating field visits.
Perform casework that does not require CSO certification, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-through.
Identify complex client issues and ensure theyโre directed to the appropriate staff for resolution.
Exercise privileged communication and maintain up-to-date knowledge of departmental operations and scope.ย
Manage sensitive information with discretion.
Testify in court when required, providing clear and accurate accounts of procedures followed.
Review and update records in the Case Management System (CMS) and Program Database.
Work additional time as needed to support departmental needs and ensure client service continuity.
The office is based in one of our Houston locations and may require frequent travel throughout the Houston Metroplex.
Company vehicle use based on availability.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Contributes to and helps create a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a cooperative and amicable manner with supervisors, coworkers, subordinates and members of the public.
