The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Indirect Tax Compliance Associate Specialist supports the organization’s indirect tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions. This role operates within a co-sourced compliance model, liaising closely with third-party service providers to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant filing of indirect tax returns (e.g. VAT, GST). The analyst will assist in data preparation, initial review of outputs from external providers, and support the indirect compliance team to deliver its objectives.
As an Indirect Tax Compliance Associate Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Supporting the coordination, review, submission and payment of indirect tax returns, ensuring adherence to local regulations and deadlines.
- Investigating and resolving return and reconciliation discrepancies, collaborating with internal teams and external providers to resolve issues.
- Assisting with responses to tax authority queries, audits, and information requests, building and maintaining audit readiness files.
- Executing processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of transactional data (AP, AR, intercompany, inventory movements) feeding into tax reporting, including identifying process improvements.
- Leading processes in relation to invoice validation, export evidence, tracking adjustments required and driving continuous improvement to minimize cashflow/cost to the business.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field; relevant tax qualification is advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years previous experience in global indirect tax compliance (VAT/GST), ideally within a manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain-driven environment.
- Practical experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP), including tax codes, reporting, and data extraction.
- Understanding of transactional data flows relevant to indirect tax reporting.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and desire to collaborate across the function and organization.
- Proven ability to use analytics and influencing skills to drive results.
- Exhibited sense of urgency to drive effective change and manage performance.
