Job Description

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Legal Project Specialist. This role will report to the Senior Practice Support Manager and provide strategic, operational, and administrative support to attorneys across multiple practice groups and work closely with partners, associates, directors, business development professionals, client relationship managers, paralegals, and legal support staff. This role supports legal projects, portfolio management, client reporting, financial and operational analysis, process improvement initiatives, and legal practice support operations.

This position will reside in the San Francisco office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operation of legal projects for cases, clients, and/or matters using Google based tools, i.e., Google Docs, Drive, Sheets and Slides, and Google Gemini Enterprise

  • Assist with the development and implementation of standardized templates, playbooks, and workflows

  • Learn and utilize financial reporting tools, create advanced Excel spreadsheets, and prepare written reports and other documentation

  • Provide project support to staff and attorney stakeholders by helping coordinate, track, and facilitate medium- to high-complexity global initiatives

  • Assist with the review of monthly reports to identify shortfalls; and provide reminders as needed and elevate complex challenges or issues to key stakeholders

  • Assist teams with analyzing performance metrics to identify trends, determine profitability of individual clients and timekeepers, and assist with the preparation of regular and ad hoc reports and summaries

  • Assist with the preparation of activity and status reports for clients

  • Conduct factual research and reports findings under the direction of leadership

  • Collect, organize, and maintain critical case data and factual discovery under the direction of leadership to support and inform attorney strategy and leadership decision-making

  • Create, administer, and continuously enhance online case repositories and external platforms under the direction of leadership, ensuring integrity, accessibility, and effective organization of case-related information and supporting efficient collaboration across legal teams

  • Research, access, and retrieve court records and jurisdiction-specific information, as requested

  • Track and communicate case-related dates, deadlines, and information key to case strategy

  • Support the development and management of case matters and practice group timelines

  • Assist with first level drafts and preparation of meeting minutes

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required

  • Preferred fields of study include Business, Finance, Management Information Systems, Economics, Accounting, Legal Studies, Communications, or other disciplines that develop strong analytical, research, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Minimum 2 – 4 years of administrative and legal support experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Prior experience in a law firm, legal, or other client service environment, is highly desired

  • Familiarity with iManage, Adobe PDF

  • Demonstrates excellence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Portable Document Format (PDF) software

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work autonomously while also functioning effectively in a team environment

  • Problem solving skills and exhibits strategic thinking and initiative in handling assignments and projects

  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion

  • Understanding of litigation support systems including WestLaw, WestLaw Case Notebook, Lexis/Nexis, and Relativity, strongly desired

  • Ability to effectively present routine information in one-on-one or group settings

  • Ability to read and interpret general business documents, instructions and manuals, write routine business correspondence, and speak effectively with employees, clients, and vendors

For positions in San Francisco, CA, the salary range for this position is: $70,070.00 - $112,093.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
