Job Description:

The Litigation Docketing Specialist monitors and updates cases in the Litigation Docketing database. This position identifies and dockets pleadings based on their filing requirements. The Litigation Docketing Specialist relies on experience and judgment to plan goals and perform essential duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain docket diary for attorneys' cases using computerized system which alerts attorneys to deadlines and history of case activity
  • Create, administer, and maintain the policies and procedures related to pleadings and their filing requirements
  • Review, analyze, and interpret pleadings, court orders, notices, and other legal documents to identify and calculate critical deadlines in accordance with applicable court rules, statutes, and local procedures
  • Prepare and distribute department Litigation Docketing calendar
  • Serve as a resource to attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative staff regarding court rules, filing requirements, docketing procedures, and litigation workflows Coordinate communication with courts and agencies
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of docketing policies, procedures, and best practices to promote consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the firm •
  • Coordinate and communicate with courts, governmental agencies, and outside vendors regarding filing requirements, case status, and procedural matters.

Job Specifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three (3) years of related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of docket procedures and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of courts and agencies and their applicable rules
  • Advanced knowledge of pleading processes and filing procedures, especially for California Superior Court
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong knowledge of automated docket systems (Compulaw and/or Milana)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information

     Target Hiring Range $87,000 - $110,000


Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWS provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
