Position Purpose

The Regional Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO), Southeast Asia & Australia, is the senior Ethics & Compliance leader accountable for advancing Carrier’s ethics, compliance, investigations, and integrity agenda across Southeast Asia and Australia.

The role also supports the strategic execution of international trade compliance priorities across Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (AME). Working in close partnership with senior business leaders and the Legal, Human Resources, Audit, Security, and Corporate Ethics & Compliance teams, the ECO identifies and mitigates compliance risk, strengthens a culture of integrity, and enables sustainable business growth. As a member of the AME Ethics & Compliance leadership team, the role provides trusted counsel on complex risk matters, leads significant investigations, and ensures consistent application of Carrier’s global compliance framework across diverse markets and jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Compliance Leadership

·       Define and execute the regional Ethics & Compliance strategy in alignment with Carrier’s global priorities, business objectives, and evolving regional risk profile.

·       Serve as a trusted advisor to regional leadership on ethics, compliance, governance, and integrity matters, translating regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.

·       Advance program maturity through continuous improvement, data-driven insights, and disciplined operational execution.

·       Provide compliance leadership for strategic business initiatives, including acquisitions, transformations, integrations, and market expansion.

2. Risk Assessment & Governance

·       Lead periodic compliance risk assessments, prioritize key exposures, and oversee timely remediation plans.

·       Monitor emerging regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and business risks across the region, and assess their potential impact.

·       Develop clear governance reporting, performance metrics, and executive briefings that support informed decision-making.

·       Partner with Legal, Human Resources, Audit, Security, and business leaders to design and implement effective risk-mitigation measures.

3. Investigations & Speak Up Program

·       Lead complex, high-impact investigations involving alleged misconduct, conflicts of interest, fraud, corruption, retaliation, and policy violations.

·       Ensure investigations are conducted promptly, independently, consistently, and with appropriate confidentiality and procedural rigor.

·       Oversee regional Speak Up case management and anti-retaliation efforts, identifying trends and opportunities for preventive action.

·       Present substantiated findings, risk implications, and practical recommendations to senior leadership and relevant governance forums.

4. Training, Communications & Culture

·       Develop and deliver risk-based Ethics & Compliance training and communications tailored to leaders, employees, and relevant third parties.

·       Promote a culture in which employees feel empowered to raise concerns, seek guidance, and make decisions consistent with Carrier’s values.

·       Engage leaders as visible champions of integrity and support initiatives that strengthen ethical leadership and accountability.

5. Third-Party & Trade Compliance Oversight

·       Provide oversight and guidance for regional third-party risk management, due diligence, onboarding, monitoring, and remediation activities.

·       Advise on export controls, economic sanctions, and other international trade compliance matters in partnership with relevant subject-matter experts.

·       Conduct site assessments, compliance reviews, and distributor or channel-partner engagements to evaluate control effectiveness and reinforce expectations.

6. Regional Network Leadership

·       Build, coach, and coordinate a high-performing network of local Ethics & Compliance Officers and compliance champions across SEAP.

·       Lead cross-functional and cross-border compliance initiatives, fostering consistent standards, shared learning, and effective execution across jurisdictions.
