What you'll be doing
As Senior Director, Group Product Owner – Enterprise Governance, Risk & Compliance (eGRC), you'll shape how CIBC identifies, manages, and responds to operational risk. You will shift our programs from manual, periodic, judgment-based activities to connected, AI-enabled capabilities that anticipate risk, automate routine work, and focus people on the decisions that matter most.
You will lead CIBC's eGRC ecosystem, including the Operational Risk System (ORS) and enterprise operational risk data governance. With a mandate to rethink, not simply maintain, you'll define the target operating model, investment priorities, and product roadmap; simplify and automate risk work with our program team; and use connected data, advanced analytics, generative and agentic AI, and continuous monitoring to surface emerging risk and improve decisions. You will ensure these capabilities are deployed responsibly through strong data, model, security, privacy, control, and human-in-the-loop practices.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Enterprise Strategy and Transformation - Define the ambition, target operating model, and multi-year roadmap for CIBC's eGRC ecosystem. Align partners and investment to the highest risk and regulatory priorities, making bold, evidence-based choices that create lasting value.
- Enterprise Product Leadership - Set priorities from discovery through adoption and continuous improvement. Establish disciplined governance, translate strategy into a clear roadmap, and use customer, risk, operational, and financial insight to accelerate outcomes and demonstrate value.
- Reimagining Operational Risk Programs - Redesign core programs, including risk and control assessments, control management, issues, incidents, losses, scenarios, regulatory change, and reporting. Replace fragmented manual processes with simpler, automated, connected experiences that improve coverage, reduce administration, and focus attention on the highest-risk exposures and actions.
- AI, Automation and Insight-Driven Risk - Make operational risk data a trusted enterprise asset across eGRC and ORS. Set standards for ownership, quality, lineage, access, retention, and traceability; automate workflows, evidence gathering, monitoring, and reporting; and apply analytics and responsible AI to detect patterns, anticipate risk, and recommend action. Measure success through stronger outcomes, earlier intervention, better user experience, and capacity shifted from administration to judgment.
- Executive Governance and Regulatory Confidence - Establish clear decision rights, accountability, and portfolio oversight. Influence senior forums with concise, forward-looking recommendations, and keep the ecosystem resilient and ready for regulatory and audit scrutiny.
- Enterprise Influence and Coalition Building - Unite Business, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Resilience, Third-Party, Technology, Data, and Architecture around a shared vision. Resolve trade-offs and build the executive sponsorship and cross-functional ownership needed for enterprise change.
- Investment, Delivery and Strategic Partnerships - Turn ambition into an executable portfolio by aligning funding, capacity, sequencing, and risk to the highest-value outcomes. Drive performance, innovation, and measurable value while keeping eGRC and ORS stable, secure, and fit for purpose.
- Leadership and Capability Building - Build a high-performing team with the product, risk, data, and transformation capabilities to lead at enterprise scale. Create clarity, empower decisions, and foster curiosity, courage, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Oversee the eGRC helpdesk to maintain responsive support and turn recurring pain points into improvements.
Who you are
- You're an enterprise transformation leader with 10+ years of progressive leadership across risk, compliance, controls, technology, product, or related disciplines, and a record of delivering complex change in a regulated organization.
- You bring deep operational risk judgment. You understand how frameworks, assessments, controls, issues, losses, data, and regulatory expectations connect, and translate that expertise into practical choices without unnecessary complexity.
- You champion trusted data and high-performing partnerships. You have established data ownership, standards, quality, lineage, and remediation practices, and can challenge and inspire strategic technology vendors to improve performance, innovation, risk management, and value.
- You're a visionary, customer-focused product leader who reimagines risk programs through AI, automation, data, and human-centred design. You turn complex user, business, and regulatory needs into a clear roadmap and align stakeholders around measurable outcomes.
- You have a record of delivering transformation at scale, leading multi-year initiatives from business case and design through implementation, integration, operating model change, adoption, and continuous improvement, with measurable results.
- You're an influential executive partner and storyteller who builds trust across boundaries, simplifies complex risk and technology choices, and communicates with the clarity needed to influence executives, governance committees, and delivery teams.
- You're technically fluent and future-focused. You engage credibly with engineering, architecture, data, automation, design, security, and risk teams; understand platforms, integrations, analytics, generative and agentic AI, and responsible AI controls; and scale promising use cases into governed enterprise capabilities.
- You turn ambiguity into momentum by framing problems, testing hypotheses, learning quickly, and adapting as user needs, technology, risk, and regulatory expectations evolve—without losing sight of the long-term ambition.
- You're an inspiring people leader who creates purpose and clarity, develops strong talent, empowers sound decisions, and enables teams to deliver ambitious outcomes together.
- You bring relevant education and professional credibility. An undergraduate or advanced degree in Business, Risk Management, Technology, Finance, or a related field is preferred; relevant risk, audit, technology, product, or project management designations are an asset.
- Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
