This role supports FMC’s evolving footprint in India and SW Asia, while contributing to the development of an integrated and business-focused legal function across APAC.
The position is structured around 2 core pillars:
- India – manufacturing operations, corporate governance, compliance, regulatory, and post-divestment activities;
- APAC Regional Role – commercially oriented legal support across selected APAC jurisdictions.
India
Post-Divestment & Strategic Projects
- Support all post-divestment activities, including transitional matters and residual risks;
- Advise on restructuring, workforce changes and operational adjustments linked to the new business model;
- Support special projects, including manufacturing optimization and footprint evolution.
Manufacturing, Operations & Regulatory
Provide legal support to manufacturing, plant and supply chain teams.
- Advise on risks related to:
- industrial operations;
- EHS and operational compliance;
- logistics, customs and foreign exchange.
- Partner with regulatory teams on registrations and regulatory strategy;
- Support proactive identification and mitigation of operational risks.
Compliance, Ethics & Risk
- Support and enhance the compliance framework in India, focusing on key risk areas (including DPDPA implementation).
- Advise on anti-corruption, internal policies and investigations;
- Support internal audits and remediation actions;
- Promote a pragmatic, risk-based compliance approach.
Employment & HR Support
Act as legal partner to HR team on employment matters, including:
- disciplinary matters and terminations;
- employee disputes;
- Advise on labor law compliance and employment risk management.
Litigation & Disputes
- Oversee key litigation and disputes affecting the India business;
- Manage external counsel and legal spend;
- Provide strategic input on material or sensitive matters.
APAC Regional Responsibilities
Commercial & Business Partnership
- Act as a legal business partner to commercial and functional teams across selected APAC jurisdictions.
- Support business teams on:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including distribution and agency agreements, supply, manufacturing, and tolling agreements, licensing, collaboration, and R&D agreements, NDAs and standard commercial contracts;
- Support key strategic projects, including new business models and product launches.
Corporate & Governance
Support corporate governance matters for APAC entities, including:
- Board and shareholder documentation;
- Director appointments and resignations;
- Coordination with external counsel on statutory filings;
- Ensure appropriate legal oversight of corporate actions in assigned jurisdictions.
Ethics & Compliance
- Support the implementation of compliance program in the region including:
- trainings on key local regulations and FMC policies;
- investigating and making recommendations on potential non-compliance issues in support of the Global Ethics Office.
Claims & Litigation Management
- Manage claims and litigation across selected APAC jurisdictions, including commercial, product, employment, and regulatory disputes.
- Coordinate and oversee external counsel, including strategy and cost control.
- Assess risks and provide practical recommendations to the business.
Team Cooperation and Legal Operations
- Work collaboratively within a regional and remote APAC legal team supporting multiple countries;
- Partner with colleagues in the global law department on various issues such as intellectual property, governance, and ethics and compliance;
- Manage and coordinate external counsel efficiently, with a strong focus on cost control and value;
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, standardization of templates, and process improvements.
- Use legal technology tools (e.g., contract lifecycle management, law firm spend and invoicing tracking systems).
